Leicester’s Crime rates in 2020
The city of Leicester, a symbol of Leicestershire’s vibrant culture and heritage, saw its own set of challenges in 2020 when it came to burglaries. Here’s a snapshot of the year:
- The highest number of burglaries was reported in October, with a total of 272 incidents.
- June recorded the lowest burglary rate with 160 cases.
- December 2020 saw a concerning rise with 254 reported burglaries, prompting local authorities to take additional measures.
In terms of comparison, Leicester’s crime rate stood at 5.76 per 1,000 people in 2020. This was significantly higher than Leicestershire’s 4.26 and the East Midlands’ 4.83. Nationally, Leicester surpassed the average crime rate of 4.59.
